About
Why this site exists
Most information about Thailand written for foreigners falls into two categories. Either it is produced by companies selling something — visa agencies, insurance brokers, relocation firms — or it is written by people who visited for two weeks.
This site is neither. It is written by a Korean national living in Bangkok, working through the same procedures, offices and queues as everyone else who lives here.
What you'll find here
The focus is on things that are genuinely awkward to work out from the outside:
- Immigration and paperwork — arrival cards, visa categories, residence reporting
- Money — bank accounts, exchanging currency, sending money, what payment actually works where
- Getting around — airports, trains, ride-hailing, domestic flights
- Living here — condo rentals, phone plans, hospitals, day-to-day costs
- Travelling here — Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya, and the practical side of getting to each
How it's written
Three rules shape everything here.
No invented numbers. Where a figure varies by branch, by season, or by operator, this site says so rather than quoting a made-up average. Prices and rules in Thailand differ enormously depending on where you are standing.
Rules change, and that gets said. Thai immigration and banking regulations shift regularly. Posts carry the date they reflect, and readers are pointed to official sources for anything with consequences.
No selling disguised as advice. Where a post contains an affiliate link, that is stated in the post. The recommendation comes first and the link second, never the other way round.
What this site is not
This is not legal, tax, medical or financial advice. For visa applications, tax filings, employment contracts or medical treatment, consult a qualified professional and the relevant official body. What you'll find here is the practical shape of a process — what to expect, what to bring, what usually goes wrong.
